It is with deep regret that the MVBA Board announces the passing of our Board President and founding member, Sam Smith. In honor of his work in the Middletown Community, our Scholarship Fund will be named after him.

The MVBA Sam Smith Scholarship Fund is taking applications until June 1st, 2010. We thank all our businesses that have contributed to the scholarship fund on Sam's behalf.

Announcing Co-op Advertising!

Key 103 has put together an advertising package for the MVBA to take advantage of during the week leading up to and during Heritage Day ( September 26th). The package is very similar to one we utilized during Christmas in the Valley in December.

You can opt for either a 30 or 60 second spot that will be introduced by promoting you as a MVBA member.

You can take any number of spots that you want within the package. If the MVBA fills a package then the MVBA will ask to purchase another package from the station. The best deal is either 20 sixty second spots or 40 thirty second spots. We can also use a combination of 30 and/or 60 second spots. The price per 30 seconds is $22.50 or $45 for 60 seconds.

If we don’t fill the best package offer then the prices adjust slightly based upon which category the MVBA would fall in. But even the highest priced package is only $25 per 30 seconds.

This is the perfect opportunity to  brand your business and promote the fact that you are located in the Middletown Valley area. It is a proven marketing fact that when an audience hears the name of their community prior to the actual ad that they are more likely to associate that business within the community and to be able to convey aspects of the advertisement when polled.

The MVBA deadline to commit to the ad packages is September 10th, since the radio station will need time to develop the ads for your approval.  These ads will only be aired from September 19th through Heritage Day on September 26th.

The MVBA Board of Directors is available to help coordinate and to put you in touch with Key 103. If you already have a relationship with Key 103 please feel free to contact them directly and take advantage of the lower rates for the week. Your spots will still count towards filling a package for the MVBA.

Main Street Middletown

With the awarding of the Main Street designation to Middletown in 2008, businesses in the Middletown Valley will reap the long-term benefits due to a multitude of opportunities that this program will generate in the form of economic development for the Valley.

The Main Street Program is a partnership between National Trust Main Street Center, state and local governments, businesses, property owners ( residential and commercial), and the community. Through a powerful combination of state, regional, and local programs that are centrally coordinated through a local Main Street Board an economical revitalization effort that is preservation-based will create jobs and new business opportunities for the MVBA members.

The Main Street Program is constructed using a four-point approach of organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring. The four-points are developed following eight established principles of comprehensive focus, incremental steps, self-help (resource mobilization), developing partnerships, identifying and capitalizing existing assets, quality projects over quanity, change of public perception, and implementation.

For more information visit The National Main Street Web Site. The Middletown Main Street website is under construction and will be available shortly to keep you informed of the progress of the program.

Dear MVBA Members:
I recently received notice about this scam.  Please take note.  Thanks.
Middletown area residents are reporting calls from a company called PrimeTime Advertising.  The callers identify themselves as representatives of the high school athletic boosters and are selling seats in the MHS stadium.  This group is not associated with FCPS or the Boosters.
