About Us: The Central Maryland Heritage League is a non-profit organization of 12 directors and nearly 1,000 members dedicated to preserving farmland, historic sites, and cultural centers in Frederick County. Currently, they hold in trust, Dahlgren Chapel, Lamar Center, Wise's Field, Lerch Property, Mahaffy Property and a Wildlife Preserve of 7.6 acres. If you would be interested in joining our preservation efforts, stop by or call the CMHL to become a member. HISTORICAL TOURS are available of the Medical Museum at the Lamar Center. Built prior to the Civil War, the house was expanded in 1905 by Dr. Austin Lamar and served as a clinic and hospital during the early 1900's.
